"Birth of a Man"
Painting
"Birth of a Man" by Tony Williams 2010. 4' x 8' acrylic on paper foam board.
"Birth of a Man" is the first painting in a series of three Body Image paintings. Although all the tracings were done at the same time, each painting took on new meaning, painting style and technique, and a revelation of a powerful, joyous and eye opening experience. "Birth of a Man" I choose the fetal position because it displayed a safe, closed, and physical perspective of life. This piece of art received its strength from my personal experience with the birth of two male children, both born with the umbilical cords around their necks and how powerful birth can be each birth giving life and new beginnings.
