Nazaar
Painting
This painting is a close-up of an eye surrounded by vibrant smears of color across the face. At the center, the pupil takes the form of a traditional evil eye, or nazar, which is significant in Persian culture and represents protection from negative energy and envy. Through this piece, I wanted to emphasize the importance of the nazar and explore how it connects to ideas of spiritual strength and self-preservation. The colorful marks around the face represent emotion and movement, contrasting with the focused gaze of the nazar to show the balance between vulnerability and protection.
