I am a Fulton County employee with an interest in both visual art and music performance. On the visual art side, I have lately applied myself to both watercolor and photography.
I paint offbeat watercolor images from my imagination, often with an aquatic accent. Photographically, I like to use lighting elements to create dramatic settings for ordinary objects.
I want to encourage everyone to reacquaint themselves with their inner artist- you will be surprised what you can do!

This is a painting done with water washes and gouache paint, June, 2024. I use my imagination to paint imaginary, deep sea creatures. I use a water filled squeegee sponge to create puddles of combined color and then I quickly fan the watery mass into a shape hopefully resembling a fish. Then, the blunt end of the brush is used to impress the wet paper and leave what appear to be scales, fins and eyes...

Detailed portion of a very large 22" x 30" abstract painting in watercolor done by loading sqeegee sponge with water and trailing it thru various spots of paint, giving a fleshy, three dimensional look. Then a small paintbrush is used to brush out little features for enhancement.

This is a photo taken of a cicada shell that I found on my street in Tucker, Georgia and a wild mushroom I found in my yard. They were shot with an iPhone SE and are illuminated with an LED lamp.

This is a very large, 22" x 30" painting of two cephalopods using a technique in which I spread a big puddle of clear water onto watercolor paper in a very rough squid-like shape, and then a drop of India ink was "bombed" onto the puddle, creating a giant instant spreading of the ink throughout the shape. Then, a fine paintbrush was used to quickly fan the inky water into a shape that finally resembles a squid. The ink dries very quickly so I REALLY had to work quickly and create any details before it dried. June, 2024.
