Painting

"Lost World" is a painting made by squirting multiple acrylics onto a black surface and then using ink brayers to roll across the paints, causing long streamers of combined color. After photographing the results, I wash away the acrylics, leaving the surface reusable for another mess of paint....
The painting only remains as a photograph.
The effect is abstract but has some sci-fi effects, at least in my eyes!!

"Cephalogod" is a painting using watercolor applied with squeegee sponge and a fine tipped brush on Dura-Bright Polyprophylene film ,which creates a textured depth and nice color blending, 2022.

Works on Paper

I like scratchboard technique. It is dramatic with deep blacks and contrasting white areas. For "The Buoyant Boy", I created a puddle of India Ink on coated white paper and barely shaped it with a brush. After the ink dried, I carefully began chiseling away at the blackness with an X-Acto blade and little features like the face and hands began to emerge. 2020.

"Rush Hour" is a watercolor painting using dots of paint that are then liquified by a very water saturated squeegee paint sponge and then details are brushed out with a very fine paint brush and then details are impressed into the wet image with the blunt end of the brush. Colored pencils are used for accents when the painting has dried.

"Horn Section" is a watercolor created with red paint and a big water wash from a squeegee sponge and then the triceratops shape is added very quickly with a fine brush and details are added by impressing the blunt end of the brush into the water softened paper. Painted in 2022.
