The Christmas Motorcycle Express

This illustration was a project given to us in the second term of my sophomore year in the academy. The project was to recreate a cover for a catalog. The theme for the catalog given to me was "Christmas Express".  After many thumbnails and countless sketches I came up with Santa is a fast riding motorcycle and his elf helpers. The medium for this piece is tradition and hand drawn. The mediums range from pencil, color pencil, marker and ink pens. The general feel to this piece was to create something magical, humorous and honestly cool. Santa is always seen as a golly old man with an almost child like innocent character. For this art piece I tried to portray Santa as someone who is not only golly but could also be cool.
