Complete this entry form to participate in the 10th Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program for Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital: "Shaping a Culture of Care". Employees, retirees, volunteers, and their family members are invited to participate. There is no fee to enter the program.

Eligibility
  • Participants must be an employee, retiree, volunteer, or an immediate family member of an employee, retiree or volunteer of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, VA.
  • Only 2 entries per artist will be admitted.
  • Departments may only enter one collaborative piece that fits within the guidelines, unless previously discussed with Coordinator Lisa Linger.
  • All entries submitted must be the original work of the applicant completed within the last three years and not previously submitted.
  • The National Arts Program and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital reserve the right to disqualify any entries they consider to be unacceptable or inappropriate for a public exhibit.

  • Individual Entrants may submit only two entries that fit into the listed medium categories.
  • Departments may submit only one piece that fits within the guidelines unless discussed in advance with coordinator Lisa Linger.
  • All artwork will need an NAP identification label placed on the back (provided at drop off).
  • All 2-dimensional entries should be matted, framed and/or ready to hang with wire securely across the back.
  • All work must measure no more than 48” in any direction or weigh more than 50 pounds unless otherwise stipulated.
  • Artwork that does not meet size limitations or specifications will be disqualified before judging.
  • Theme: "Shaping a Culture of Care" This year's theme reflects the combined impact of Carilion's mission to "improve the health of the communities we serve" and our five core values of "community, courage, commitment, compassion, and curiosity." As a part of the Carilion community, we have an opportunity to influence the culture within our local healthcare system. What does shaping a culture of care mean to you? While adhering to this theme is not required to enter the Employee Art Show, we encourage artists to use this as an anchor in their process and vision. This year's Community Impact Award will be given to the art pieces that best embody this theme with a prize of being featured in the Keeley Healing Arts Program's Rotating Art Gallery at Melrose Plaza in summer 2026.

Rules of Exhibit
  • Deadline This Registration Form must be received no later than Friday, April 24, 2026 to participate in this exhibit.
  • Delivering Entries  All entries must be delivered to Community Health and Outreach, 1202 3rd Street, Roanoke, VA 24016, between the hours of 7:30am - 3:00pm on the following days; Tuesday, April 28th, Friday, May 1st, Tuesday, May 5th, or Thursday, May 7th. (Alternatively, artwork can be mailed to the above address. Mailed artwork must be received by Friday, May 8th in order to secure a spot in the show.)
  • Reception & Awards A reception and presentation of awards will be held at the Roanoke Memorial South Lobby on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. (presentation of awards begins at 6pm)
    • Prizes will be awarded by classification:
      • Adult (Amateur, Intermediate and Professional): 3 - First Place Awards of $350; 3 - Second Place Awards of $250; and 3 - Third Place Awards of $150
      • Best of Show Award of $400
      • Youth / Teen : 2 - First Place Awards of $150; 2- Second Place Awards of $100; and 2 - Third Place Awards of $50
      • Art Education Award of $200
    • Additional awards including Honorable Mentions will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
    • Awards are limited to one cash award per artist per classification.
    • There will be one Departmental Collaboration winner chosen by a judging panel.
    • Up to 22 artworks from any category will be chosen for a Community Impact Award. These awards will be given to the artworks that best embody this year's them of "Shaping a Culture of Care" and will be featured in the summer exhibit of the Keeley Healing Arts Gallery at Melrose Plaza.
  • Public Exhibit The "Shaping a Culture of Care" exhibit is free and will be open to the public in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Lobby from May 27 - June 19, 2026.
  • Retrieving Entries Each artist is responsible for retrieving their artwork. Entrants will be emailed with details regarding pick up. Neither Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital nor the National Arts Program will be responsible for unclaimed works.
    • Artwork pieces that have been recognized with a Community Impact Award will then be transported for a summer exhibit at the Keeley Healing Arts Gallery at Melrose Plaza.
    • Departmental Collaborative pieces must be picked up by an approved department representative at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 19th.
    • Individual entrants will be able to pick up their artwork on designated Pick-up days from the Healing Arts Manager at 1202 3rd Street, Roanoke, VA 24016. No work is to be removed prior to the end of the exhibition.
  • Liability Every attempt will be made to preserve, secure and protect each entry submitted; but neither the National Arts Program nor Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital can be held responsible for damages, loss of art entries, or changes/cancellation of this exhibit due to low participation or unforeseen circumstances. The National Arts Program and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital reserve the right to disqualify any entries they consider to be unacceptable or inappropriate for a public exhibit. The placing of art in the exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant with conditions herein set forth.  The National Arts Program and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital reserve the right to publish for publicity purposes reproductions of the entries.  The National Arts Program at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, VA is a public exhibit and photographing/filming of the exhibit is encouraged.
