My Hope is You Alone

This painting began as a watercolor collage, which was then mounted onto canvas, sealed, and overpainted in oil and cold wax with a painting knife, creating a bright, dynamic composition, which includes accents in gold metal leaf, to express my hope in Jesus as Lord and Savior. This painting alludes to the song "Even If" by the contemporary Christian group "Mercy Me". Various Scripture passages which speak of our hope in Jesus (Luke 4:21 / Isaiah 9:1 / Titus 2:11 and Zephaniah 3:14) were transferred onto a film of clear acrylic and included in the collage. This is a high key palette of various yellows, apricot, and pinks, balanced with cool notes of blue and green. The proceeds for this painting will be donated to the Beloved Atlanta shelter for women rescued from human trafficking, as alluded to in the film "Priceless" by For King and Country (see https://www.belovedatlanta.org/) .
