"The Golden Bellied Ghost Guppy and the Sargasso Sebaceous Snark Shark"
Painting
"The Golden Bellied Ghost Guppy and the Sargasso Sebaceous Snark Shark" is a painting in gouache using my technique of laying blobs of paint onto watercolor paper and then rolling over them with a water filled squeegee sponge brush and allow the colors to blend. Then I brush out a shape with a fine-tipped paintbrush, and then I impress the wet paper with the blunt end of the brush to make the gills, fins, scales and so forth. When the painting dries I use colored pencils to add highlights and depth. I pose the fish upright to create a less static painting. It takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. The title, of course is a surrealistic invention with no relation to living fish. April 2025.
