Spotlight on Jerri Ann Jones - VIA Metropolitan Transit Coordinator

Jerri Ann Jones is the Community Relations Coordinator for VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, Texas. Jerri Ann did a tremendous job organizing the First Annual NAP Exhibition for VIA employees and their family members, often going above and beyond to make sure that everyone involved had a positive experience with the program.
One employee who worked on the exhibition with Jerri Ann was so thrilled with the event that he even used some of his award money to establish a website dedicated to highlighting their annual NAP exhibitions.

NAP Attends 5th Anniversary Show in Portland, ME

Robyn Raskin, Program Coordinator for the National Arts Program®, recently attended the opening reception for the 5th Annual NAP Exhibition in Portland, Maine. The awards reception was held in the State of Maine room located in Portland’s City Hall building where the artwork is on display through March 17, 2011.

Society for Arts in Healthcare’s 22nd Annual International Conference

In April the National Arts Program® will be a featured presenter at the Society for Arts in Healthcare Conference in San Francisco, California. The SAH Conference is a place where professionals from across the country are able to explore models, best practices and cutting-edge research in arts in healthcare programs.

It’s All About Family at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, NV

The National Arts Program® at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport has really become a family affair. Coordinator Kim Matthews said that, “the gallery was busting with proud family members,” at their reception held in November. The Mueller family (pictured left) is just one example. Both their daughters were honored with awards at this years reception.

National Arts Program® Exhibit on Display at Government Center

Art for and from the public will be in the lobby of the Char-Meck Government Center until February 24.
 
Close to 150 local artists are crawling out of the woodwork and onto the walls of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library, the Arts & Science Council, and Mecklenburg County invited their employees and their employee's relatives to submit visual art as part of the 11th annual National Arts Program®. The art is now on display at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center through February 24th.

Artwork Shines at Crozer-Keystone Health System, PA

The Crozer- Keystone Health System employees always surprise the judges with their extraordinary level of talent. As the participants entered the reception this year, they were greeted and congratulated by hospital administration. The sense of a professional art show was felt as music played in the background while guests, artists and their families enjoyed the show.

Rave Reviews for Ventura County, CA

The Ninth Annual Ventura County Arts Council NAP Exhibit was displayed from August 27th through October 12th. The 170 pieces of art were hung in the Ventura County Government Center Hall of Administration Atrium Gallery.
 
The award reception had less than the expected number of attendees due to the holiday date, but was nevertheless a joyous occasion. Catering, live music, balloons and the attendance of many department chairs as well as the Deputy CEO raised the overall quality of reception for visitors and winners alike.

Spotlight on Chris Luciani, City of Cleveland Coordinator

Chris Luciani is not only the Cultural Arts Manager for the City of Cleveland, but he has also been coordinating the National Arts Program® for the City of Cleveland, OH since its inception into the program twelve years ago. Each year Chris continues to expand and grow the exhibition with a record-breaking 213 participating artists in 2010.

Chris’ positive attitude towards the arts and the National Arts Program® is inspiring. The NAP is pleased to feature him as our February spotlight.

Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND Joins the NAP

The National Arts Program® was pleased to welcome our first venue in the state of North Dakota; Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB). GFAFB is not only the first venue in the state, but is also the first military base to join the NAP. Partnering with VSA North Dakota to host the exhibition, more than 70 pieces of artwork from military members, both active and retired, and their immediate family members were displayed in the Community Center located on the base.

Triumph for Camden County, NJ Sixth NAP Show

On a chilly Sunday in December, the Cultural and Heritage Commission in Camden County was shoulder to shoulder with participating artists from this year’s NAP Show. Sandra Turner-Barnes and Bruce Garrity did a tremendous job fitting all the artwork into the space. In his opening remarks, Bruce said, "I hang a lot of shows in Camden and always know the artists and their work, but with the NAP, you never know what you are going to get!" When over 200 pieces come in ranging not only by talent but by medium, the challenge becomes showcasing it all.

A Spectacular Space for Austin, TX

The Eighth Annual NAP Exhibit for City of Austin employees and their family members was beautifully displayed at the Mexican American Cultural Center once again. With 135 pieces of artwork from 79 artists, the entire gallery space was lined with all sizes and mediums of artwork.
