Much-honored Hill artist making her mark at Woodmere

Chestnut Hill artist Lara Cantu-Hertzler’s compelling work is attracting much favorable attention at Woodmere Art Museum’s 71st Annual Juried Exhibit, which opened July 28 and will continue through Sept 30. Lara also expects to participate in Chestnut Hill’s Annual Fall for the Arts and will be taking an arts residency for the month of February, 2013, in Northern Vermont.
 
The whiff of paint strongly lingered in the air as I stepped into her studio for the first time. Her paintings were arranged everywhere in the room; I was in a mini art gallery.

NAP Featured in Boise Weekly

First Thursday, Sept. 6, Flying M Coffeehouse is celebrating the time-honored art of artistic time-wasting: the doodle.
 
Boise artist and Flying M co-curator John Warfel will show an exhibition of his doodles, which he said are the sorts of things that come out when you are willing to turn off your inner critic and just let the art flow.

Miami Beach Celebrates Seventh Year with the NAP

On July 11th participants were honored at the Awards Reception for the Seventh Annual City of Miami Beach National Arts Program® Exhibit. The show was a beautiful display and decorated the walls of the 4th Floor Gallery in City Hall. In attendance were Commissioners, Michael Gongora and Ed Tobin, as well as Assistant City Managers, Max Sklar and Jorge Gomez.
 
Although there were some repeat winners there were also some new artists in the mix this year.

Art Museum Requests NAP Youth & Teen Artwork Remain on Display

The Seventh Annual NAP exhibition in the City of Casper, WY was once again on display at the Nicolaysen Art Museum (NIC), a local private not-for-profit museum. Adding a new twist to this year’s exhibition, the artwork was hung in two different locations within the museum. The show, which featured 96 pieces of artwork, was on display in the both the NIC lobby as well as the Discovery Center.

Professional Experience for Participants in Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN celebrated their Fifth Anniversary with another beautifully displayed exhibition of artwork from city employees and their family members. The exhibition was once again installed at the Garfield Park Arts Center. This venue not only provides a professional atmosphere for the show, but gives the participants the experience of having their artwork hung in an art gallery setting.

Participating Artist Entertains Awards Reception Guests in Manchester

The seventh annual NAP Exhibit in the City of Manchester opened on July 6th this year and filled the city hall gallery with wonderful art creations from city workers and their families, retirees and school district employees. Mayor Ted Gatsas, a true supporter of the show, attended the July 26th reception and posed with the artists after the awards were given out. Manchester’s reception is always a fun filled and well attended event and this year was no different.

Children's Hospital of Michigan President Attends NAP Reception

Grace Serra, who is the Art Advisor for the Children's Hospital of Michigan Healing Arts Program, was once again coordinator for their annual National Arts Program® Exhibition. This was their sixth annual show and it opened on March 5th displaying artworks throughout the halls of the hospital for all to enjoy. Hospital President, Herman Gray attended the June 25th closing awards reception and presented winners with their prizes. Grace said that this year’s show was a good mix of past artists taking part again and new artists joining in for the very first time.

Avera McKennan Announces Art Show Award Recipients

The Avera McKennan staff art exhibit is now on display at the Prairie Center and showcases the talent of Avera staff and their families. As part of the National Arts Program – the Avera McKennan art exhibit received over 200 entries, from over 40 different departments in over 45 different towns/cities.
 
The entries were categorized into five divisions: Adult Professional, Adult Intermediate, Adult Amateur, Teen 13-18 yrs, and Youth 12-under. First, second, and third place award recipients along with two honorable mentions were named in each category.

City honors workers and their families with art show

MANCHESTER — City workers and family members were recognized at City Hall on Thursday night, but not for anything having to do with the wheels of government.
 
The seventh annual City Employee and Family Art Show features art creations from city workers and their families, retirees and school district employees.
 
Winner of Best in Show honor was Beverly Holtsberg of Manchester West High School for her “Spooky Moon” painting.
