"ARTWorks" Awards Ceremony Honors Winners

A Tuesday evening reception featured an awards ceremony honoring winners of the 13th annual “ARTWorks” competition that showcases the creative talents of City of Pittsburgh employees, their families and members of their households.
 
The City-County Building’s grand lobby currently serves as the setting of an impressive collection of paintings, photographs, drawings, pottery and other unique pieces of artwork.

A New Space for Camden County

In the six years that Camden County, NJ has hosted the National Arts Program® they have moved the show four times. From the Cultural & Heritage Hopkins House museum in Camden, to the Camden Library, back to Hopkins House, then this year clear across town to the Katz Jewish Community Center. Each change has brought more artists than the last and this year was no exception. NAP Coordinator Sandra Turner-Barnes who is the Cultural & Heritage Director for Camden County, was a bit nervous after the last show included an outstanding total of 155 pieces.

NAP Featured on Cape May County Herald.com

The multi-purpose Performing Arts Center of Middle Township, which has hosted various events from circus acts to opera, will turn to art for three weeks when it exhibits the works of the winners of the county’s 11th annual National Arts Program.

Sixth Year for Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare, LA

This was the sixth year that Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare hosted their combination performing and visual arts follies. As usual their National Arts Program® exhibit was displayed in the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center & Hospital Galleries. The show is mounted on movable display panels throughout the lobby and hangs from March 31st through April 30th.

NAP Welcomes Providence Sacred Heart

After meeting the National Arts Program® staff at the Society for Arts in Healthcare conference last Spring, Kevin Benson knew that the NAP would be a perfect addition to their hospital programming. After discussing the benefits of displaying employee artwork with the staff, Kevin was excited to move forward and apply to become a venue in 2012. With more than 6,500 eligible participants, the NAP saw great potential in this new collaboration.

City of Detroit, MI Extends Registration Deadline

There is still time to participate in the 8th Annual NAP Exhibition in the City of Detroit, MI!
 
The registration deadline has been extended until this Friday, April 13th at 2pm.  Click here to register online.
 
Artwork can be delivered to the Skillman Branch of the Detroit Public Library located at 121 Gratiot Avenue on either April 12, 2012 between 10am and 2pm or April 16, 2012 between 10am and 2pm.

VIA Metropolitan Transit Continues to Grow

Coordinator Jerri Ann Jones of VIA Metropolitan Transit, TX worked hard this year to not only boost participation but to incorporate the matching scholarship element of the National Arts Program®. It’s only their second year and they are proving that they can grow and improve the show on many levels. The reception, which took place on February 11th at the SMARTart Project Space, was well attended with guitarist David Garza playing live for the crowd. Once again Jeff Ramirez was there to take photos for the exhibit website and the VIA newsletter.

First for University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ

Having multiple campuses, and a pool of 5000 employees and their family members, can pose a challenge for a venue hosting their First NAP Show. By using online registration exclusively, along with email and employee website announcements, 200 artists registered and from that came 227 pieces on intake day! The UMDNJ administration was overwhelmed by the positive response and looks forward to even more entries next year.

Reno-Tahoe Airport Gallery Closes with a Bang

This was the Fifth Anniversary show for Reno-Tahoe International Airport, NV and the final exhibit in what stands as the Connector Collections Gallery today. Coordinator Kim Matthews commented that, “with nearly 100 pieces of artwork, this employee art show is one of the best the gallery has ever seen.” The gallery will receive a complete remodel for their 2013 exhibition.
 
At the awards reception which was held on February 22nd, Kim was honored for five years of bringing art forward and Airport CEO Krys Bart presented her with the NAP anniversary plaque.

Ron Peterson, the President of Johns Hopkins Health System, joined Hopkins staff and family members to celebrate the Fourth Annual National Arts Program® Exhibit at Johns Hopkins Medicine, MD on February 7th. Coordinator Amanda Myers once again organized an amazing exhibition from start to finish.

Winners of the First Annual Exhibit at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, WA

Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, WA is pleased to announce the winners of their First Annual NAP Exhibition.  There was no shortage of artwork with more than 190 pieces for the judges to choose from, picking the winners was not an easy task.  The NAP would like to thank everyone who participated and made this year's exhibition such a huge success.

Bat Sculpture Takes Best in Show at Staff Art Exhibit

Wood takes on many forms at this year's "On Our Own Time" staff art exhibit – it illuminates, it symbolizes unjustified jealousy and it represents the UA's past.
 
With more than 60 pieces, this year's exhibit is on display through April 10 in the Union Gallery of the Student Union Memorial Center.
 
It kicked off March 20 with a lunchtime reception, during which the show's winners also were announced.
