NAP Staff to Attend Awards Reception at Johns Hopkins Hospital

The National Arts Program's® staff will be attending the 4th Annual NAP Awards Reception for Johns Hopkins Hospital this afternoon (2/7).  Guest speakers including the Executive Director of the NAP, Jackie Szafara and Johns Hopkins President, Mr. Ronald Peterson will be on hand to help commemorate the occasion.  The reception will be held in the Turner Concourse at 3:30pm. Please join us if you are in the area.

Huge Turnout for 21st Show in Hartford, CT

On January 28th the Centinel Hill Hall of Capital Community College was standing room only. More than 400 people were in attendance to celebrate the 21st Annual NAP Exhibition in Hartford, Connecticut. The exhibition which featured 285 pieces of artwork from more than 165 residents in the Greater Hartford and Middlesex Counties was on display from January 23rd through February 4th, 2012.

Spotlight on Olivia Woodford, Health Arts Network at Duke Coordinator

The Health Arts Network at Duke (HAND) had held an employee art show for 30 years before being introduced to the National Arts Program® in 2008. Olivia Woodford, the Director for HAND, attended the Society for Arts in Healthcare Conference where she learned about the NAP. She knew instantly that there was an opportunity for partnership. Olivia had already been working on developing models for use of the arts as a tool for health and well-being for twenty five years, so the incredible benefits of a program such as ours were clear to her immediately.

Hartford, CT Announces 2012 Award Winners

With more than 400 people in attendance, Hartford, CT hosted their 21st Annual NAP Awards Reception on Saturday, January 28th.  The exhibition features 285 pieces from 168 different artists and will be on display at the Capital Community College through February 4th.  To view images from this year's exhibition, just visit their venue page of our website.

HAND, NC Continues to Grow

The Third Annual NAP Exhibition at Duke has continued to grow. This year’s exhibition featured 166 participants each displaying a piece of their own artwork including everything from crafts to works on paper.

State of Delaware Reception Photos Posted Online!

On January, 9th the State of Delaware held their First Annual NAP Awards Reception. Twenty-three awards were announced in five categories – Professional, Intermediate, Amateur, Teen (13-18 years old), and Youth (12 years and under) and one Best in Show.

A Family Display in Philadelphia, PA

The hallways of the fifth floor of City Hall were filled with artwork from over 167 employees of Philadelphia! It was a wonderful collection of artwork from various city department employees and their family members.
 
Tu Huynh, Art in City Hall Director, asked Amie Potsic, Director of Career Development for the Center for Emerging Visual Artists, to join us at the reception. She spoke to all the artists on how she can help them through various city programs to further pursue their art careers.

Spotlight on Jackie Szafara, Executive Director for The National Arts Program®

Jackie J. Szafara has been involved with the National Arts Program® since its inception in 1982. Working directly for the foundation since 2001, Jackie was named the Executive Director in 2009. Jackie brought with her twenty years of outside experience in the marketing and advertising industry. Her responsibilities here include overseeing all venues across the country, speaking on behalf of the NAP, website development and implementation and, generally, making sure the rules of our exhibits are properly followed.

NAP Visits Raleigh / Wake County, NC

Annually for nine years, the City of Raleigh has enjoyed a unique display when the lobby of the municipal building is filled to capacity with the artwork from employees and family members of the City of Raleigh and Wake County. Commonly known as the Block Gallery; this 2,296 square feet of marble walls, illuminated by custom lighting and hosting a professional hanging system, provides an ideal setting to showcase original artwork from these employees, giving all of them the opportunity to be in a true art gallery setting.

Orange County, FL Comes Back Strong

Orange County is back on board! Their last NAP Exhibit was in 2008 and we couldn’t be more pleased to have them re-join the family. This year marks their Sixth National Arts Program® Exhibit and it was a wonderful return with 148 pieces displayed. Even the Mayor and Commissioners commented that they were delighted with the artwork.
